The new position gives direct head office support to key accounts and the sales teams. This dedicated link will speed up response times and give the sales teams more time with customers. The internal changes at Hörmann are part of the ongoing plan to maintain the excellent reputation the company has gained for service and responsiveness, while adapting to meet the challenges of the future. BRITISH STUDENT HEADS FOR AFRICA ON HÖRMANN SCHOLARSHIP A university student from Leicestershire is looking forward to working in Africa after securing a place in the Hörmann Scholarship, established as part of the company’s 75th anniversary celebrations. It is intended to be a reflection of the commitment and team spirit traditionally fostered in the company and was open to friends and family of Hörmann employees throughout the world. 21 year old Nancy Cooper is one of only four students, worldwide to win a place in the Hörmann Scholarship. Currently studying Childhood Studies at the University of Sunderland, she will be jetting off to Tanzania to work as a volunteer at Irente Children’s Home in the North-Eastern region. Miss Cooper expressed her excitement saying, “I’m very excited to have been chosen by Hörmann to be a part of this great experience. I want to pursue a career in social care so this is definitely going to be a great opportunity for me.” She was recommended by close family friend, Jayne Smith, Service Manager at Hörmann (UK) Ltd. Nancy has been allowed to take a gap year from her studies to participate in the scholarship programme and will spend 6 months at the orphanage taking care of 0-2 year olds before they leave for foster homes or to live with extended family. This cross cultural experience gives Nancy the chance to put into practice skills and experience she has gained from her studies to date. As well as providing all accommodation, travel, subsistence and pay, Hörmann has also given Nancy a netbook, camera and mobile telephone so she can keep in touch with her family and write a blog in order to chronicle her experiences.
