The LPCB (the Loss Prevention Certification Board) is part of BRE Global - the leading third-party approvals organisation that offers certification of products, services and systems. It works with insurers, government, police, designers, manufacturers, contractors and end users to develop methods by which product performance and reliability can be assessed. The new product range features an S76 perforated lath shutter (level 1 LBCP security rating), an S76 solid lath shutter (level 2 rating), an I100 double-skin lath shutter (level 3 rating), and an I100 reinforced double-skin lath shutter (level 4 rating). All products are manufactured by Steelroll at its Oswestry production facility, whilst product and quality compliance is undertaken by sister company Aluroll, a firm that has been listed in the famous Red Book - the definitive list of LPCB approved products and services - every year since 2009. During development, each shutter type had to undergo the rigorous testing process demanded for LBCP approval, which is designed to assess resistance to deliberate attack and ensures only the best products receive accreditation. A team of experts, which may include regulators, insurers, designers, manufacturers, installers, engineers and scientists, sets the necessary standards. LPCB approval is recognised by governments and regulatory authorities in the UK and across the world and, in the future, Steelroll will have to undergo regular audits to ensure the products continue to meet the approval criteria. The response to the new range has been very positive and there has been significant demand for the shutters since they hit the market, which has pleased Steelroll Manager Garry Peake: “Our people had to put in a lot of work to achieve LPCB approval for these products, as the testing process is understandably rigorous,” he says. “To get all four products through the process was an achievement in itself, and testament to the dedication and expertise of our development team. The fact that the shutters are now proving very popular with our customers is doubly satisfying and a reward for all the time, hard work and dedication we have put in.” Find out more on the Steelroll website www.steelroll.co.uk
