The GfA product convinced the jury with its extremely compact design, integrated frequency inverter and other unique functions. R+T, held in Stuttgart in February, is the leading world trade fair for roller shutters, doors/gates and sun protection. Its Innovation prizes are awarded jointly by the Federal Association for Manufacturers of Roller Shutters and Sun Protection (BVRS), the National Federation of Door and Gate Manufacturers (BVT), the Industrial Association for Technical Textiles, Roller Shutters and Sun Protection (ITRS), and Messe Stuttgart. In addition to the innovative quality and the market potential of shortlisted products, the user friendliness and product safety are also assessed. The SE 8.65 Fi drive, which uses GfA’s new SG40 gearbox, has been specifically designed for use with counter- balanced sectional doors. Its compact one-box design (just 285mm x 210mm x 85mm) and low-weight (9.5kg) allows for greater flexibility during installation. The integrated frequency inverter allows the drive to have an adjustable output speed from 6 to 65rpm and an output torque of 80Nm. This allows doors to be opened quickly and efficiently, reducing energy loss and increasing the energy efficiency of buildings. GfA also presented a new patented torque bracket and spring tensioning device which allows the spring tension to be checked on installation and during maintenance visits without the need to remove the drive. This feature is designed to reduce premature failures of drive units due to incorrect spring tension and to make the maintenance of sectional doors quicker and simpler. The new drive unit, which will be available in the UK later in the year, is fast and easy and safe to fit due to a completely new single plug connection system between the unit and the door control. This takes GfA’s existing plug and play installation to the next level. GfA UK Ltd Managing Director Andrew Collett says: “It’s great to see GfA recognised for innovation with such a prestigious prize. GfA works hard to stay at the forefront when it comes to speed, safety, design and usability and I think in this product we excel on all of these elements.” To express an interest or discuss applications contact a member of the GfA sales team on 01926 452452 or email sales@gfa-elektromaten.co.uk LET THERE BE LIGHT Alutech launched their 56mm perforated aluminium lath last year which was greeted with immediate success. With oblong rather than round holes it transmits more light than the traditional 38mm perforated lath with round holes. Paul Fletcher from SGG in south London commented on the product, saying: “My clients prefer the 56mm lath to the traditional 38mm as it is a much stronger section, allowing us to achieve greater widths whilst giving maximum light flow through the shutter”. Paul continued: “As the boys at JD (UK) hold stock in the UK, it is easy for us to get hold of it in just a few days, rather than waiting for the next shipment from the Far East and the inherent delays that may occur”. For samples of the lath, please contact JD (UK) on 01924 472 924 or email steve@jdukltd.co.uk Compact one-box design Adjustable output speed from 6 - 65 rpm New single-plug connection for fast installation Recent installation of 56mm perforated aluminium shutter
