The company’s extensive hinge-testing facility, believed to be one of the largest of its type in the UK, houses an impressive range of equipment covering fifteen different test functions. Each rig, which has been specifically designed and built to British Standards recommendations, is programmed to deliver continuous test results across all ranges of Phoenix hinge products, ensuring complete compliance with all of the current and forthcoming requirements of BS EN 1935:200Loading on the test rigs is currently up to 250k, as per the draft standard proposed by BS EN 1935. Phoenix hinges are routinely cycle tested up to 2 million cycles, although this can be infinite, subject to the limitations of the product. The range of equipment in daily use includes: Seven test rigs for endurance cycling of single axis hinges to BS EN 1935:2002.fully automated door set installation for ‘true working environment’ testing of any combination of hinges and pivot sets, together with ancillaries such as back check door closers. Hydraulic operated test rig and load cells for testing hinge action in shear and overload conditions and salt spray cabinet testing for product finish and corrosion resistance In addition to rigorously testing of the Phoenix range of products to ensure compliance to the standard industry certification, the centre also carries out testing to various elements of DD171, PAS23 & 24, DHF TS001 and Salt Spray testing to BS EN 1670:2007.
