The original roller shutter, which showcases the durability and quality of Excel’s shutter products, became tired after protecting the company premises for over a quarter century and needed to be upgraded to a more modern and efficient model. Duane Swift, managing director of Excel Industrial Doors and Shutters, said: “We were absolutely delighted to hear from the Crosland Moor Community Shop, a company we worked with back in 1990. The fact that our roller shutter was still standing until just recently showcases how long lasting, effective and secure our products are, and we urge shop owners to secure their premises with such a sound investment.” The original roller shutter was installed back in 1990, and after an initial telephone consultation with the Huddersfield Company, Excel organised an on-site appointment to take initial measurements and discuss the new shutter upgrade. The newly installed roller shutter, which was manufactured at Excel’s Huddersfield head office, was electronically operated for ease by the means of a key-switch. Excel’s reputation within the Huddersfield and surrounding Yorkshire area is exceptional when it comes to health and safety with electronic commercial roller shutters, all of which come with a manual override facility which can be used in the event of a mains failure. The new roller shutter was also constructed from 3” pre-galvanised solid steel lath with 65mm guide channels to optimise security. “Hopefully this new roller shutter will last just as long for the Crosland Moor Community Shop,” added Duane. “We pride ourselves on high standard customer service, quality products and the compliance of health and safety legislation and that’s why we regularly see repeat custom, even decades down the line. I am absolutely thrilled that the Crosland Moor Community Shop had such a pleasant service with us, and I hope to work with them again in the future.” Excel is a leading roller shutter manufacturer based in Huddersfield. GARADOR EMPLOYEE SETS THE PACE Six months after her heart stopped beating Garador sales advisor Kim Kerswell has been busy baking cakes. Kim, 46, was rushed from Garador’s garage door factory in Yeovil to hospital last June where they found her heart had paused for 24 seconds. After having a pacemaker successfully fitted, Kim recovered and is now back at work, but she wanted to give something back for all the care she received. So she joined up with the British Heart Foundation and their Wear It Beat It campaign to hold a major fund raising day at work at Garador. Co-workers at Garador all turned up in red to reflect the heart/love theme of the day and people baked a range of Valentine and heart shaped cakes along with holding a raffle. She collected £253 which has all gone to the charity. “The money is much needed by the British Heart Foundation,” said Kim. “Every day over 500 people go to hospital suffering a heart attack and the support and information the BHF provides is invaluable. “For instance, after my heart problems, we received full information from the BHF and now Garador have installed the company’s own defibrillator machine, such a good idea for all companies.” The original roller shutter installed 26 years ago Excel update roller shutter with efficient electronic product for maximum security Alice Lou (left) , British Heart Foundation community fundraising manager for Bristol and Somerset, accepts the money raised by Garador employee Kim Kerswell Garador’s Kim Kerswell with work colleagues, sales advisor George Aldred (left) and warranty administrator Liam Harris, and some of the cakes made to help raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.
