Door Industry Journal - Spring 2016

THE door industry journal spring 2016 Also online at: www.dijonline.co.uk Woodrite – Wooden Perfection? “I’ve spent each moment since Woodrite began thinking about every detail of how we make a door. I wanted our doors to be the best and I know that they are” said a bullish John Brooks, Woodrite’s CEO. He continued, “we’ve worked with our timber and stain suppliers to ensure we use only high grade materials and our finishes are truly exceptional. Everyone in the team shares my standards and we’re now working with some of the UK’s most exclusive developers – a real testament to our belief in total quality”. The picture shows a Woodrite Balmoral Padbury door. It’s mortice and tenon jointed (no staples) its has generously deep rails and perfectly proportioned panel work. Grain and colour are delightfully balanced across the door with just the right amount of personality against uniformity. The optional detailing of rounded chamfers adds a further quality touch and the matched frame is the perfect finishing touch. Can you spot what’s wrong with this door? It’s a trick question of course, as far as we can see it’s …. Perfect? You might perhaps argue that all this quality comes at a price. Sharon Cleaver, Woodrite’s Sales Director, however makes a good case “We’ve a great customer base that knows its customers understand the true value of quality. Our five-year warranty on finish for cedar, oak and idigbo doors and 10 years on Accoya is unmatched in the Industry, such is the confidence we have in our products and consumers get this! Line our doors up against any other and we know which one the consumer will choose! Our doors may not be the lowest in price but they are the best value by a long, long way.” Contact Sharon Cleaver at Woodrite on 01280 841010 for details of the Woodrite range! 33 garage doors Woodrite – Packaging is boring, right? What a dull topic… But it’s funny how a small detail like how garage doors are packed for delivery can mean the difference between a door arriving in perfect condition, ready to fit, or damaged and ruining your day. Everyone knows that once a door has been delivered from the manufacturer it also has to be transported to site when there’s a further possibility of damage. Woodrite’s packaging solution is designed to protect, not just for its own deliveries, but for onward transport too. Doors are first covered with a layer of perforated plastic. Why perforated? Woodrite likes to let its wood breathe! No need to unwrap the door completely on delivery to acclimatise like other manufacturers. Woodrite then adds a protective layer of cardboard and strapping pads to the sides and top of the door. The strapping pads are easily moved and perfect for when the door is strapped to the side of a van for delivery to site. They eliminate rubbing and crushing of the doors edges – the most common form of transit damage. The strapping pads are 90mm deep to cover the door rails and 5mm thick to also help prevent the chance of damage when doors are stacked against each other. The door then has a final shrink-wrap covering of perforated plastic to keep everything in place. On site the outer shrink-wrap can be removed leaving in place the cardboard and base layer of plastic, keeping it out of harm’s way whilst the door is fitted. “It seems like a lot of effort but we know that without it, damage will happen, which helps no one!” said Sharon Cleaver, Woodrite’s Sales Director. The picture shows a Woodrite door packed and ready to go with the strapping corners picked out in red to make this clever feature easy to spot in the image.
