Manufacturer Hörmann can attest to this, having seen growing demand for its glazed and smoke effect aluminium sectional doors. As well as the obvious garage installations, these doors have been chosen to bring a touch of elegance to more unusual spaces such as kitchens and living areas. With clear demand for this contemporary style, Hörmann has decided to display its flush-fitting, fully glazed ALR Vitraplan garage door for the first time at a UK exhibition. The stunning sectional will be taking centre stage at this month’s National Homebuilding and Renovating Show at the NEC (14-17 April). Available in two smoke effect colours, grey and brown, the sectional ALR Vitraplan features Hörmann’s unique, scratch resistant glazing, which creates a simultaneous appearance of mirroring and transparency. With the panels of this door hiding its frame, nothing detracts from its remarkable look. 26mm thick Duratec synthetic glass provides up to 20 per cent better thermal insulation than standard 16mm glazing. For the most carbon conscious projects, triple glazed panels are also available to further reduce heat loss. As with any Hörmann sectional garage door, the ALR Vitraplan can be supplied on request with the manufacturer’s specially designed ThermoFrame, which can improve thermal efficiency by as much as 15 per cent. Based on a highly stable industrial ALR 40 door, the ALR Vitraplan offers long-term reliability and efficient performance. Built-in finger trap protection on both the inside and outside of the door adds to its safe operation. Additionally, an open for infill option is available with this highly adaptable frame. These aluminium doors can be supplied ready to be clad in a material of your choice, enhancing their visual appeal and kerbside credibility. Perfect for more unusual design projects, this door is ideal for use with timber, metal, ceramic, plastic and many other materials. Each horizontal panel is individually clad in the homeowner’s chosen material and benefits from a polyurethane infill. This additional insulation helps to further minimise heat loss and reduce carbon emissions.
