Two of the apprentices are now working in the technical support team. They have both completed their second year in college and have now come in-house to continue their education. After three more years of on the job training, they will graduate as fully-qualified electrical engineers. The third apprentice is working in the estimating and pricing department. “Taking staff on at apprenticeship level gives us several benefits,” says NVM Managing Director John Seymour. “We get the chance to educate them in the way we do things as a company and, hopefully, this will result in a knowledgeable, motivated and loyal staff member who will stay with us for many years to come and has a clear path for career progression. Certainly, our willingness to support apprentices is a factor in our very low staff turnover rate. This is good news for us, as it leads to savings in recruitment and training, but also for our customers – as we have a solid cohort of experienced staff who have come up through the system and know our products and processes inside out.” Find out more about NVM at www.nvmgroup.co.uk CONTINUING TO INVEST IN STAFF OF THE FUTURE JD (UK) are pleased to welcome Jordan Bentley into the team. JD (UK) believes that apprenticeships lead to a more motivated and satisfied workforce, and is a further commitment towards their continued investment in the local community. General Manager, Paul Hargreaves commented: “JD (UK)’s Apprenticeships programme should hopefully provide the skilled workers we need for the future. “Apprentices provide a business with fresh and innovative solutions to business challenges within the sector which is vital to help a business remain competitive and relevant in its market. “We are also doing or bit for the economy. Taking on a young person and training them up will help to tackle youth unemployment, hopefully providing a boost for our business during the economic cycle.” PROUD TO SUPPORT MEMBER OF STAFF ON CHARITY BIKE RIDE Office Coordination Manager at JD (UK), Stuart Bailey, is doing a sponsored bike ride to raise money for the Leeds General Infirmary Neonatal Unit. Stuart is cycling 200 miles starting from the Liverpool Docks all the way to the Humber Bridge over three days to raise money for the Leeds General Infirmary Neonatal Unit. The Neonatal Unit is close to everyone’s hearts at JD (UK) as they cared for Stuart’s baby, Mia Rose Bailey, who was born with Type 3 Sacrococcygeal Teratoma and required 8 hours in surgery at just 5 days old. She spent the first 3 weeks of her life on the neonatal unit at Leeds General Infirmary, who were fantastic with Mia and her worried parents. The ride is taking part on Easter Weekend. All of the team at JD (UK) Ltd offer their full support to Stuart and admire his dedication and commitment to raising money for such a fantastic cause. This is just one of the charity events JD (UK) Ltd are proud to be supporting this year.
