Door Industry Journal - Spring 2020

THE door industry journal spring 2020 Also online at: www.dijonline.co.uk OPEN DOORS Reach Out, Reach Out… We’ll be there… When I started to think about the article for this DIJ edition (before the Coronavirus outbreak), I thought that the theme should be about the new dhf Reach Out programme. And then my mind went back to 1966 when the record ‘I’ll be there’ was released by the magnificent Four Tops. Something else happened in 1966 …. ah yes, England won the football World Cup. Happy days - certainly better than we have at present …. Enough down memory lane … what is the new dhf Reach Out programme? In simple terms, it is new approach to support our members in the ever ongoing issues of safety and non-compliance. The main objective is to educate the industries that we represent by introducing a variety of seminars which can be held at members’ premises, or at our offices in Tamworth. The seminars can be tailor-made to address members’ own installer customers or other key players in the supply chain such as Housing Associations, landlords, local authorities, surveyors, architects, facility managers, and so on. The underlying objective is to help our members educate the supply chain so that they better understand that products and services may be more expensive from one company compared to another because the lower priced offering may not be legal, safe or fully compliant. The seminars also highlight the legal responsibilities of landlords and owners of installations. But our Reach Out programme goes further than just vertically in the supply chain, and I will talk more about that in the next DIJ issue. So, looking forward to when the current situation improves and government restrictions are lifted, we will get this new programme underway.
