For 2020, this has meant making improvements to their premises in West Yorkshire to create a welcoming, functional workspace that customers can visit to find what makes the company tick and understand why they are increasingly becoming the supplier of choice for sectional garage doors, roller shutter components, garage door automation and aluminium systems for bifolds, sliding doors and curtain walling. This recent programme of enhancements has been headed up by the company’s new Brand Manager, Andrew Glover. Andrew joined the company in January having previously been Managing Director at the retail home improvement company, West Yorkshire windows, for 27 years. Andrew’s remit is to help grow the business while the ensuring the company’s core values are upheld. Andrew says, “We pride ourselves on outstanding customer service and the ability to deliver on our promises. So often, suppliers forget that their customers are not just a number but an important part of their organisation. “For us, our customers come first and foremost. We believe in honesty and transparency in everything we do, in the way we interact with each other, our customers and our suppliers. We strive to improve and innovate on a daily basis. Always being at the front for research and product development for everything we currently deliver and new products the industry needs. “Our team here all have the same belief in the company’s values and, as much as we develop our products, we always look to develop our people too, creating not just a great place to work, but a place our customers enjoy interacting with.” Refurbishments completed so far include new signage outside the building and improved parking facilities, as well as a refreshed reception are and meeting room. The redesign of the offices has also made way for a new member of staff who is set to join the internal sales team shortly. Lauren Powers will initially focus on outbound calls to the company’s growing fabricator network. Courtney Daniels also recently joined JD (UK) as an apprentice in the sales office, initially providing admin and order processing support to the Roller Shutter Door department. Over the coming months, Andrew will be making upgrades to the transport planning process, developing the company websites, introducing new quotation packs and overseeing several exciting new product launches. With the increased media focus on modern life and its impact on our environment, SWS UK felt it was important to ensure that, as a business, they were doing all they could to reduce its environmental footprint. To that end, they have made the environmentally conscious decision to make shrink- wrapping optional across the SeceuroGlide range! In a recent survey conducted by SWS, it became apparent that their distributors reflected the company’s desire to operate more sustainably with a particular wish to reduce the reliance on plastic packaging. SWS UK listened to the feedback and have since updated their processes, allowing distributors to decide which of the doors would need the additional packaging. Having trialled it with a small number of customers, SWS UK has been pleased to report that it has already seen a significant reduction in its use of plastic packaging, through distributors making a conscious decision to select it only on orders where doors will be stored or transported whilst exposed to the elements. In a further bid to reduce its environmental impact, SWS UK are also providing the option to request digital versions of their fitting instructions as opposed to printed copies.
