With the introduction of this new legislation, SWS UK saw an opportunity to improve its SeceuroFire Flame Shutter whilst also meeting the new standards. The SeceuroFire Flame Shutter is an electrically operated vertical fire shutter, consisting of a 75 mm scrolled curtain and galvanised steel box assembly and guide rails. The box, curtain, guide rails and bottom rail can be powder coated as an optional extra. The shutter is designed to be a security barrier during normal use and to be closed automatically during a test or an emergency situation. In the event of receiving a fire alarm signal the barrier will perform a powered descent to create a fire-resistant barrier. In the event of power failure, the Flame Shutter will close using the battery-backup feature. The Flame Shutter’s design allows for both face or reveal installations. Approved Standards The Flame Shutter has been tested to BS EN 16034: shutters product standard, fire resisting characteristics and BS EN 13241: shutters product standard, performance characteristics. The product was tested and approved by Warrington Fire, report 413395. Product Performance This product is uniquely capable of providing specifiers with a choice of Flame Shutter 30, 60, 120 or 240 minutes integrity performance in accordance with the standards mentioned above. “When the new legislation was announced we saw it as an opportunity to improve our SeceuroFire Flame Shutter whilst also meeting the new standards. We have redesigned the shutter to be easier to install with improved access to endplate fixtures, a reversible axle and non-welded flags. We also offer an increased range of hood configurations and a shelf mounting system. “These innovations have meant that the new and improved SeceuroFire Flame Shutter is much more flexible on site, whilst being much easier and safer to install than its predecessor. “Following the success of our innovations and updates to the flame shutter we’ve had lots of positive feedback from regular and new customers, some of whom were so impressed that they’d like us to look at introducing similar changes to our existing steel shutter range, SeceuroDoor, Watch this space!” - Paul Cowley, Product Development Manager.
