Knowles Fire door specialist Sentry Doors, based in Doncaster, announced the acquisition of E. & S.W. Knowles - the Birmingham-based manufacturer of internal doors. The E. & S.W. Knowles company will continue under the new ownership, adding to a history that dates back to 1923. The firm offers fully customisable bespoke joinery to clients across the UK. An extensive range of quality products includes fire doors and non-fire rated doors, acoustic fire doors, hospital doors, and PAS 24 security doors. In particular, demand is the E. & S.W. Knowles range of standard internal fire doors, with bespoke options also available. All of them are fully tested and are third-party accredited under the IFC Certification and BM TRADA ‘Q’ Mark Fire Schemes, with fire protection ratings that range from 30 minutes (FD30) right up to 120 minutes (FD120). All doorsets are supplied as a complete package ready for installation and can be fully machine prepared for hardware, providing a precision fit that maximises performance and simplifies installation. All fire doors and timber doorsets in the E. & S.W. Knowles range comply with building regulations. New investment from Sentry has enabled Knowles to expand its production facility into a second building, which will help the firm cope better with customer demand and improve manufacturing efficiencies. The expansion created 10 jobs in the local area. E. & S.W. Knowles products will now combine with Sentry’s well-established product range, which focuses on the specialist fire doorset requirements of the social housing, public sector, commercial and residential markets. The firm delivers bespoke, fully-certified BM-Trada Q-Mark fire doors - pre-assembled and ready to be installed – and is the supplier of choice for local authorities and housing associations.
