The extensive project included a layout restructure and additional brand-new shelving, which has enabled the manufacturer to increase stock levels and create a more efficient stock-picking process. The effective restructure has also allowed the additional racking to be relocated into a new location. This has created more space at the warehouse entrance, allowing greater access for deliveries and forklift operators. Fundamental to the project was SWS UK’s new Warehouse Manager, Ashton Ward. Ashton joined the company in the Autumn of last year and comes with 7 years of warehouse management. Speaking of his role with SWS, Ashton says: “I appreciate the importance of a smooth-running warehouse and how it impacts the day-to-day efficiency of the business. My principal aim is to further improve the stock-picking process to speed up the time it takes for stock to reach each department. The recent warehouse improvements have meant we’re already seeing significant progress in this area, and I intend to work with my team to further extend the efficiency of the warehouse.” More to Come The team at SWS UK aren’t done yet. Phase 2 of their warehouse project will see them make additional improvements to how they store the off-the-shelf product, Xpanda. This includes a new, better-situated location and more efficient racking. They’re also working on creating a more streamlined Goods-In area, to improve the flow of deliveries into the site.
