Also online at: www.dijonline.co.uk 22 THE door industry journal spring 2024 Industry News Hörmann Truedor Puts on a Show Since it acquired door manufacturer IG Doors in 2013, the Hörmann Group have undertaken a major investment and commitment to the UK market in building a completely new manufacturing facility located in Oakwood, South Wales. The result is a highly automated 200,000 sq ft production facility, with a capacity to produce 3500 doors per week - creating what must be the most impressive door manufacturing plant in the UK. November 2023 saw the company open its doors and welcome visitors to the IG Doors plant for a series of open days held over three days. Over 90 existing and prospective customers, along with members of the press attended and were able to tour the state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities on site. Attendees were able to see first-hand the whole manufacturing process and follow the production of a door from the creation of the complete slab, paint, assembly, and finishing, right through to despatch. What makes the Hörmann Truedor product truly unique is the fact that the Group made the decision to manufacture their own GRP door slabs in the UK. This decision was taken to ensure that the highest levels of quality could be achieved and maintained, together with the desire to ensure the security of supply, particularly relevant at a time of disrupted shipping routes and increased prices. Short supply chains for the majority of the components and the use of renewable energy result in a door that is the ‘greenest,’ most sustainable product on the market. As the November events were such a success and feedback from everyone who attended was very positive, the company have decided to hold three more open days which will take place on 14th, 15th, and 16th May. Once again attendees will have the opportunity to tour the on-site showroom, and manufacturing facilities and meet with the Hörmann Truedor team.
