THE door industry journal spring 2024 Also online at: www.dijonline.co.uk Industry News Dash to Dubrovnik in Aid of Alzheimer’s Research by Son of MB Garage Doors Director Daniel Beaney the son of Mel Beaney from MB Garage Doors in Cramlington and his friend from University Connor will be taking part in this year’s Dash to Dubrovnik where students from across the country buy a cheap car and take a road trip through Europe for 8 days in late June and into July with the end destination being Dubrovnik in Croatia. The car which will take them there is a 1994 Skoda Favorit LXI called Ferdinand. For the age, it’s in good condition with a full-service history and only 40k miles. The route back home is up for them to decide. Daniel says they have no concrete plans yet, but they are considering taking Ferdinand back to the place where he was built, Mladá Boleslav, which has now been turned into a Skoda Museum. Daniel and Connor both stated: “We wanted to fundraise for a charity which resonates with us, that’s why we have selected Alzheimer’s Research UK. We are both now getting to the age where we are seeing first-hand how Alzheimer’s can affect and ruin lives and we hope our fundraising can make a difference”. Daniel added: “This isn’t just an odd ploy for a lads holiday though, we’re taking this challenge on in the name of Alzheimer’s Research UK, with our goal this year to raise at least £5000 in aid of the search for a cure”.
