EasyGates Distribution and ASO have recently proudly announced the opening of their brand new showroom and training facility, located within EasyGates’ 13,500 square foot base in Halesowen, West Midlands. This new facility will not only be a state of the art space for keeping up to date with all gate automation safety legislation, but it will also provide an area for practical demonstrations and the chance for people to have a hands on learning experience. The 1200 square foot training room has been fitted with full presentation facilities and different automated gate installations to replicate scenarios a gate installer may have to deal with on site. Following on from the success of the Gate Safety Conference 2012, EGD/ASO have been even more determined to ensure and enable all gate installations are up to Government Health & Safety Legislation and look forward to working with the Door and Hardware Federation in developing courses to facilitate this goal. “Part of our long term plan is to be a resource base for safety training and support within the gate automation industry.” Says EGD’s Managing Director Tony Gooding. “We are aware that having a demonstration area and giving people the chance to actually see the practical application of safety measures, can be a very valuable tool in ensuring installations are all conforming to current safety legislation.” For further information about the facilities and courses on gate automation safety, contact EGD/ASO on 0845 054 5070 or through their website www.EGDUK.com FAAC REVEALS FIRST HYBRID BARRIER AT IFSEC EXHIBITION FAAC unveiled its first hybrid powered barrier range at this year’s IFSEC exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham. The new innovative product generated a great deal of interest amongst the many visitors to the exhibition. The B680 barrier is ideal for a wide variety of commercial applications with high volumes of traffic, combining high performance and reliability of hydraulics with the flexibility and safety benefits of a 24v motor. With twice as much power as an electromechanical barrier, the B680 can operate beams up to 8 metres in length. It is however more economical to maintain as it has fewer moving parts and an oil-bath lubrication system reduces the wear of the mechanical components, resulting in longer life span and less operating noise. For increased safety and visibility, the B680 is available with cabinet and beam dual-coloured LED lights. Helping installers to comply with current European standards, the B680 features an integrated encoder with monitors the position of the beam and instructs the barrier to revers if an obstacle is detected. The beam speed can be adjusted through the integrated control board, providing precise control over beam movement. Also featured at the exhibition was the innovative A140 AIR automatic door system which offers the ideal solution for business looking to reduce energy cos ts as savings of up to 40% can be achieved compared with standard automatic doors. The system features an inbuilt monodirectional sensor which identifies the walking direction of the pedestrian, so that the doors only fully open if a person is walking towards them. Unlike standard automatic doors which often stay open much longer than necessary, the A140 uses information from the sensor to optimise opening/closing times to reduce air loss and energy consumed by internal air-conditioning and heating systems. For applications requiring a wider opening, the A140 AIR is now available with telescopic leaves, providing the perfect space-saving solution. In many cases the A140 can be retro-fitted to an existing automatic door system by simply replacing the internal components in the operator. Therefore energy savings can be realised with relatively low investment in terms of both time and cost. With more than 40 years’ experience, FAAC is a world leader in gate and door automation. Within the UK, FAAC (UK) based in Basingstoke is the market leader in residential and commercial markets, which it serves through a national network of approved installers, all trained to FAAC’s high standards.
