It is designed to take away the hassle of estimating the material cost for aluminium shutters or garage doors. It provides a specific bill of materials for each shutter entered. This can then be collated into an order and presented directly to JD who will make a delivery to every corner of the UK. The system caters for 44, 55 and 77mm extruded aluminium as well as 55 and 77mm insulated roller garage doors. Options will include for hoods, safety brakes, safety edges as well as the full colour range available for each product. On developing the web based package Steve Hudson, JD UK’s Managing Director, commented that many customers, especially those that manufacture other shutters or just want to earn extra profit, have expressed an interest in manufacturing their own continental style aluminium shutters or garage doors, but were looking for the support with producing an accurate bill of material. Our system is simple, you just enter the sizes, lath type, colour and any options. You will then be presented with several different stock lengths to ensure that the optimum stock is being utilised and then it converts it directly to an order or price enquiry as necessary. As an example of the savings to be made, one of our sectional door customers ordered material to manufacture nine punched extruded aluminium shutters and saved over £1600 from his normal supplier – it took 1 1 ⁄ 2 days to make, so he estimated a clear £1200 on his bottom line.
