Like a kid with a new toy, Mel looked for every opportunity to use his new bike, so when a member of the Sommer UK team, Jenny Jaumann, was in need of a lift to work, guess who stepped in and obliged? DHF PAYS TRIBUTE TO RICHARD GUTHRIE Dr Richard Guthrie, who died in June, made an invaluable contribution to the development of the Door & Hardware Federation. Richard’s company, Guthrie Douglas, is a long-standing member of DHF and Richard played a very active role in the Industrial Door Group (IDG). Not only did he attend most of the IDG meetings, he also took on the position of Chairman of the IDG from 2008 until 2012. Richard was also a member of the DHF Executive Committee and sat on the DHF Board. Richard was particularly supportive and helpful to me when I became DHF Executive Chairman and I have many fond memories of our meetings. Not that they were always easy going! He had a very probing business brain and was well known for voicing his opinion. He certainly made life at the DHF interesting and challenging. Typical of Richard, right up to a few days before he died, he was still communicating with us at Tamworth. Richard will be sadly missed by us all, both from a business point of view and for his friendship. Our condolences go to his family.
