The company is in the final stages of testing a new range of steel security shutters with the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB). Aluroll has manufactured LPCB-rated aluminium shutters since 2009, as well as standard aluminium models, but has now expanded its operations to include a steel range. In 2014 the company moved to larger premises at Park Hall in Oswestry and now produces rolling shutters and grilles in both steel and aluminium, which are supplied to customers across the UK and to overseas markets. Dr Jason Powell, the engineer responsible for the new products, says that customer demand has led to the introduction of the new range: “Aluroll’s aluminium rated products have been very popular with specifiers over the years, as customers know they will have been subjected to the rigorous LPCB testing process to assess their resistance to deliberate attack. It has been an obvious next step, given the success of and demand for the aluminium products, for Aluroll to have the new steel range LPCB-approved.” In May 2014 Aluroll successfully designed and tested a Security Rating level 1 (SR1) perforated steel shutter, an SR2 single skin steel shutter and an SR3 double skin shutter. A final test of a heavy duty model, expected to attain SR4, is taking place in August 2014. A listing in the famous LPCB Red Book requires, the definitive directory of all LPCB approved products and services, is a major achievement. In addition to well designed and manufactured shutters, a calendar of internal and external quality auditing by a UKAS approved auditor must take place. The fact that Aluroll has so many products in the Red Book is testament to its ethos of ‘continual improvement’, which is encouraged by the auditors’ ISO 9001 standard. According to Dave Barwick, General Manager of Aluroll, the company’s quality management applies not only to the high security range, but to everything the company does. “The LPCB testing process has been a very positive experience as it makes us raise our game and look at every aspect of design and manufacture, which in turn has greatly improved both the service we provide to our customers and the commercial prospects of the company.” For further information visit www.aluroll.co.uk industrial doors Make Automated Shop-front Shutters & Grilles “Smart” Safe – Simple - Secure See page 46
