Also online at: www.dijonline.co.uk 26 THE door industry journal summer 2015 industry news ALUROLL UNVEILS THE UK’S LARGEST ROLLER SHUTTER SHOWROOM After weeks of preparation and considerable investment, Aluroll – a leading supplier of garage doors and roller shutters to the physical security market - opened the UK’s largest roller shutter showroom with an exclusive trade event on June 26th. The showroom contains the full range of Aluroll’s garage, aluminium, steel, fire and Secured by Design LPCB-approved roller shutters. Integrated motors and controls from the likes of Somfy, Elero, Teleco and GFA allow visitors to test the very best solutions the industry offers. The event commenced with a welcome message and brief presentation from Aluroll General Manager Dave Barwick, describing how far the business has come since its foundation in 2004. Dave described the transformation from seven staff in a shared Portakabin and shared 12,000ft 2 workshop, to employing 26 people in a 50,000ft 2 dedicated manufacturing plant. Five initial products have grown to over 30, including seven that are Secured by Design LPCB LPS1175 SR1 to SR4 approved. Dave assured the audience that Aluroll’s future plans will focus on improving the processes that have already led to success. He highlighted these as outstanding service levels - from order, to delivery, to warranty and after sales; reinvestment of profits into research and development, facilities and people; and strong relationships with the industry’s best suppliers for raw materials, machinery, motors and controls. Next to speak was Paul Connor, MD of NRG Automation Systems, the exclusive UK distributors of Elero, Teleco and King Gates, who presented on the latest industry motor and control innovations. Paul described how NRG became the leading supplier to the UK Roller Market by being an adaptable company that listens, as well as boasting an out-of-hours technical backup service rated the best in the industry. The audience were impressed with NRG’s offer of a five-year control panel and an amazing seven-year motor guarantee on any Aluroll product with both Teleco controls and an Elero motor. Following the presentation, guests split into groups for tours of the manufacturing facilities where Aluroll’s aluminium and steel products (branded Steelroll) are made. The informative tours demonstrated the end-to-end manufacturing and regulation processes Aluroll deploys to produce high quality ISO 9001 and BS EN 12453:2001 compliant and CE marked roller shutters. For many, it was the first time they had seen the factory, built just 18 months ago, and there were positive comments all round. Many guests said that after seeing the facilities and processes first hand they now understood how Aluroll, with the added benefit of permanently high stock levels, consistently beats the competition on service and delivery. Following the tours, guests returned to the showroom where a number of experts from Aluroll, NRG Automation, GFA and Somfy were on hand to demonstrate their products and answer technical questions. There was lots of excited talk about the latest industry motors, controls, safety and installation techniques. Particularly popular products were the new range of Aluroll fire shutters, which provide fire resistance between one to four hours, and the Secured By Design LPCB 1175 approved shutters. Many guests were pleasantly surprised to learn that Aluroll now have seven approved shutters across the roller garage, aluminium security and Steelroll range. Over forty guests then made their way to accommodation laid on by Aluroll near Oswestry town centre to freshen up for the evening ahead. After a couple of drinks at a local bar, minibuses took guests to a private function at a top local restaurant, The Dining Rooms, where they enjoyed a meal and the chance to unwind, get to know each other better and share industry knowledge and gossip.
