Also online at: www.dijonline.co.uk industrial doors 32 THE door industry journal summer 2015 SECURING THE MAGNA CARTA VAULT 2015 is the 800th year since the sealing of Magna Carta in 1215. One of only four remaining original copies of the document is owned by Lincoln Cathedral and lives in Lincoln Castle. Lincoln Security was selected to provide a security shutter for the entrance to the Magna Carta Vault in Lincoln Castle which is now complete. The initial specification highlighted the critical importance of ensuring the shutter was completely concealed and invisible when in the open position. To guarantee this the shutter (including guides) was installed within the outer steel plates and the internal block work. Lincoln Security worked closely with the contractors to ensure the shutter was supplied and installed to the exact requirements of the specification which detailed that they retain the integrity of the aged look of the building. Senior Director, Richard Farrar commented on the project: “As Lincoln Security were the first and most favourable choice to carry out these works it was important that we provided the best possible arrangement for the specific requirements as laid down by the architect and as such the SWS UK product fitted the bill perfectly. “The shutter we fitted was the SeceuroShield CD38 which due to low headroom and high strength was perfect for this application. With safety of upmost importance we included an anti-drop brake and the user chose to operate the door with a flush mount key switch. All of these items were sourced from SWS UK”.
