Also online at: www.dijonline.co.uk 52 THE door industry journal summer 2015 garage doors feature Alutech launch new ‘Trend’ Sectional door in UK Alutech launched their much anticipated ‘Trend’ sectional garage door on July 9th in Leeds. Over 70 people confirmed their attendance for the first showing of the product on UK soil. During the presentation customers were able to participate in the installation of a side spring door – these are available up to 3.5m wide and a top sprung version of the door is available up to 6m wide. Steve Hudson MD of JD UK – Distributor for Alutech, commented: “The product was well received by our customers and potential customers, as there are a number of aspects that make for a much faster installation. Several customers in fact told me that they could appreciate how easy it would be to fit 2 doors in a day. When we informed everyone that we were planning on offering the door including an operator for the price that most comparable doors are on their own, the response was fantastic”. Prices were at the time still to be confirmed, but for example the following prices were offered on the day, 7’ x 7’ White M rib – including motor £400 14’ x 7’ White M rib – including operator £700 So what’s new about the new Trend range! The door panel is 40mm thick with smart density foam filling which gives an impressive U value of 1.08 Wmk which is still better than most with comparable panels. Combine this with the polymer coating which is a hard wearing external finish to the panel, Alutech now offers a 15 year* panel warranty on the Trend door panel! Not only that, Alutech have introduced and improved the frame and hardware section of the Trend door. These include; New painted frame legs and “C” section facia profile. These are smooth in finish and allow the frame and facia section to protrude in to the structural opening by 50mm without any fixing holes being visible. Also included within these are new frame leg reinforcing brackets along with pre-fitted narrow style EPDM seals which give excellent draught proofing against external elements! (pic 1) Safety First! A new innovation for Alutech on Trend range doors fitted with extension springs is the introduction of full length spring covers , which cover the door spring and cables enhancing the visual appearance of the door within the frame leg area. This new addition has several benefits, not only does it protect against the possibility of finger entrapment but it also acts as a thermal break, reducing heat loss through the frame leg! (pic 2) The new top cable pulley wheel assembly will now be pre-installed to the top of the frame leg, cutting down on installation time. An improved “in between fix kit” was launched with the 107mm profile, which is now being offered not only as a leg cover profile but as a facia cover profile as well! These features allow this system to be installed in a smaller opening or to give greater door and drive through height. The new door also has pre-punched horizontal tracks along its length, enabling easy pick up of ceiling fixing points. Combined with this is the addition of a new telescopic back bar fixing system allowing simple installation to side walls, meaning quicker and more stable track and door installation!
