The doorsets include acoustic, fire, personnel and high security doors from the Powershield range, which all met London Underground’s stringent standards. Chris Cole, Area Sales Manager at ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, said: “’Custom House Crossrail station is just one of many London Underground projects we are currently delighted to be associated with. “It is essential to balance fire safety with security in public locations. We supplied internal and external steel fire doors to provide a high level of fire protection, helping to prevent the spread of fire and maximise evacuation time.” Paul Bryant at Paneltec Services Ltd, the contractor responsible for the Custom House Crossrail Station, said: “When Custom House Crossrail station becomes fully operational, it will see 12 trains an hour at peak time, therefore it is essential that the design of the building is suitable for a high volume of people. “ASSA ABLOY Security Doors were able to deliver the doorsets on time and on budget to help with the building’s flow. The doorsets demonstrate superior strength and durability, combined with relatively low maintenance requirements, making them an ideal choice for what will be high traffic station.” Powershield Fire Doors are Certifire approved providing up to four hours of fire protection, while the Acoustic Doors resist sound up to 45dB.
