The 2000 Series of closers from Astra are non-adjustable, fixed power closers which are equally well suited to new build and refurbishment projects, particularly narrow apartment entrance doors. The Astra 2000 Series comprises a 2001 (EN Power Size 1) and 2002 (EN Power Size 2) fixed power closers which cannot be vandalised, tampered with or damaged by physical override, making them the perfect concealed closer for residential doors where a simple damping closer with no maintenance and low risk of vandalism is a requirement. The Astra 2001 closer is particularly suited to the narrow doors which are common on social housing refurbishment projects, helping the doors to comply with Building Regs part B (Fire Safety) and accessibility requirements including Part M of the Building Regs which covers access to and use of buildings. They are permitted under the Construction Products Regulations and approved by Building Control offices across the UK. The new Astra closers are resistant to tampering because they are manufactured from robust materials – like the stainless- steel strap which closes the door – with designed-in security features. Because the Astra 2000 Series closers have been specifically designed to be non-adjustable, they perform consistently every time. Closing a 838mm door in just five seconds, the new closers demonstrate excellent opening forces over closing forces and reliably latch the door every time. If the closer is physically overridden by a user slamming the door, it will not be damaged as the built-in pressure release valve will kick-in and will continue to operate correctly every time. The new 2000 series closers from Astra are compact and easy to fit. Measuring just 178mm in length and a 28mm diameter, these concealed closers are perfect for retrofit projects. Contractors can use the 2000 closers as a “fit and forget” option since they require no adjustment, and, because their hydraulic oil is sealed into just one compartment, they are completely maintenance-free. The closers’ robustness and reliability make them perfect high traffic settings where they may be subject to tampering or vandalism. Well known for its door closer range, Lancashire-based Astra can demonstrate many years experience in the sector and carries out all of its own R&D in-house. It exports its British door closers all across the globe via a network of distributors and partner companies. dormakaba PROVIDES NEW CONCEPT GUEST ACCESS SOLUTION FOR OXFORD HOTEL When a 16th Century building located in the heart of Oxford was refurbished to create a luxurious and modern hotel, the building required a keyless access system. Located on St Aldates road, just 50 metres from Carfax Tower in the centre of Oxford, the Museum Hotel Oxford is a luxury hotel dating from 1594. A historic building, the hotel provides ten rooms that have been designed in a contemporary manner, yet highlighting the hotel’s period features. The team from the Museum Hotel Oxford tasked dormakaba with providing keyless access control that could meet the challenge of integration with its own systems, and the need to provide smart and secure access to the hotel rooms as well as common access doors. The Oracode web-based keyless access system proved an ideal solution. A secure web based platform, it integrated
