Also online at: www.dijonline.co.uk THE door industry journal summer 2017 NEW REVEAL FITTING KIT ON ALUTECH TREND SERIES SECTIONAL DOORS The Alutech Trend series sectional door product continues its evolution as the design is constantly reviewed and improved following market feedback. Those of you who are familiar with the difference between the UK Garage Door market and our counterparts in Europe will know that “reveal fitting” between a brickwork opening is far less common on the continent. As the Alutech brand has grown in prominence in the UK over recent years, one point of feedback has often been that Alutech should consider a dedicated reveal fitting kit system better suited to the UK market. As you may have read elsewhere in this issue of DIJ, this new system was unveiled for the first time at the FIT Show 2017, at the NEC in Birmingham by Alutech’s UK distributor, JD (UK) Ltd. The system features all new “wrap-around” L-shaped cover profiles for both the frame legs and door header. This unique system will allow Alutech doors to retain the advantage of providing the option to have either an all- white or an any-RAL colour surround on all doors. The header profile is not automatically painted in the same RAL colour as the door, which is the case with some other manufacturers. Alutech Trend series doors are already popular due to their smooth finish frame legs; these legs, along with the header section, can be painted to match the finish of the door. So, for any “behind fit” installation, the frame can be shown within the opening without the need to fit any cover profiles. There is also no need to hide wood grain textured frame legs with smooth finish cover profiles. For true “reveal fits” between the opening, the new system offers a neat, tidy and fitter friendly system. It also features newly introduced anchor brackets, for between the opening installation, which reduce the loss of drive-through width when compared to the previous Alutech bracket design. Doors will now need just 100mm of side room within the opening. The new anchor bracket system also features unique frame strengthening brackets. Those who saw the system at the FIT Show were truly surprised by just how solid and sturdy this installation method really is. Finally, the addition of an anchorage point at the foot of the door frame leg ensures a rock-solid, rigid frame which allows simple installation and perfect operation for any door fitted between the opening.
