In the past, engineers have been known to spray paint a black finish onto the silver aluminium-mounting rails supplied with safety edges. Not only does this method prove costly and time-consuming due to lengthy application and drying times, a sprayed-on coating is not an ideal long-term solution in harsh weather conditions. Their new anodised aluminium mounting rails are now available in a matt black finish, offering a seamless, streamline appearance for many applications. “The new addition to our safety edge range not only enhances our extensive product line, but offers an aesthetic benefit to our customers” said IN2 Access and Control’s Director, Mark Buchan. “Our new black aluminium is coated with a protective oxide layer which has a higher corrosion and abrasion resistance, ultimately increasing its durability.” Specifically designed to compliment Bircher’s leading safety edge system, customers can now choose from two mounting rail colour options – black or silver – with the added benefit of being able to retrofit to existing applications. “We have already seen a high volume of interest coming through for this product range so we are confident that it has a long-term place in the market” added Mark Buchan. The new black aluminium is compatible with Bircher safety edge profiles using AP-S, AP-5, AP-8 and angled AP-G1-D20 mounting rails.
