The new course, which is available nationwide and open to both members and non-members, is being delivered by industry training experts, Dave Hall, who has worked with dhf for many years, and newest team member, Peter Wyatt. Both have extensive experience in the installation and maintenance of industrial doors and garage doors and are NVQ assessors. New one-day training provision: The new one-day training course is based on elements of the dhf publication: dhf TS 012:2018, for the Design, Manufacture Installation and Maintenance of Industrial Doors and Domestic Garage Doors, and increases dhf’s training provision, complementing the original two-day Safety Diploma course but not replacing it. It is intended for industrial and garage door installation and maintenance operatives and may also be relevant to some sales people who wish to expand their knowledge. The new course will offer delegates the opportunity to learn how to use relevant parts of dhf TS 012:2018 and gain a deeper understanding of the safety standards affecting the safety of new installations, maintenance and repair of industrial and garage doors. dhf’s on-going call for higher industry standards: dhf represents all the key players in the following sectors: locks and building hardware, doorsets, industrial doors and shutters, domestic garage doors and automated gates. Renowned industry-wide for its on-going commitment to improving safety and raising standards through its extensive range of comprehensive training programmes, dhf’s 450-member companies provide the level of safety, quality, reliability and compliance increasingly demanded by specifiers, contractors and end users. Through its dedicated training courses, it is hoped that the problem of untrained and inexperienced personnel who supply and install unsafe products, will become a thing of the past. “It is a condition of dhf membership that at least one person (who is able to change existing or implement new legal compliance processes) at every member company has attended and passed the two-day Industrial & Garage Doors Safety Diploma by December 2018,” explains dhf Marketing Manager, Patricia Sowsbery-Stevens. “There is simply no place in our industry for illegal products and irresponsible conduct and we are continually driving the message that proper training is the foundation for better standards. The new one-day Industrial & Garage Door Safety Certificate has been created to sit alongside the two-day course and comes in response to industry demand to provide something specific for installers. As a federation dedicated to ensuring products on the market are safe and compliant, we provide the industry with the appropriate training, information and support to enable our members to be compliant and aware of their legal responsibilities with the full weight of the federation behind them.” For queries related to training, please email dhf’s training department. training@dhfonline.org.uk .
