With RCS’ busiest financial year to date now behind them, Steven took on a different financial challenge; not for personal gain or business development, but this time for charity. RCS are industry-leading designers and manufacturers of British, bespoke- made roller shutters. The company provide innovative, fully-conforming, eco-efficient solutions with unrivalled expertise in delivering fit-for-purpose security and aesthetic appeal. Armed with lycra and sun cream, Steven (pictured) and his team took on the grooling ‘LEJOG’ 1006mi/1619km bike ride on the 22nd June, raising money, and heartrates for Derian House. The ride sees challengers start from Land’s End (the foot of England) all the way up to John O’Groats (the tip of Scotland). The ride is split into 9, consecutive, daily stages each over 100mi/160km, with 55,000ft of climbing (over twice the height of Mount Everest). This iconic ride covers some of Britain’s most famous and beautiful landscapes, some of which you can see here and via RCS’ social channels. “We knew it wasn’t going to be easy and there were some real dark times throughout the challenge, but coming out the other side, completing the challenge, and knowing it has all contributed to a great cause is something I am very proud of” - said Steven Kenny. RCS and Steven have so far managed to reach 102% of their £1000 target thanks to generous donations from customers, suppliers, friends and family. There is still time to donate to this cause via this link: justgiving.com/fundraising/rcs-doors. ‘Situated in the heart of Lancashire, Derian House provides palliative, specialist respite and end of life care for children and young adults’. Derian’s personal goal for the year is to reach £3.85million to continue meeting the needs of children and families. RCS is committed to contributing to this goal and as a thank you to supporters of Steven’s LEJOG challenge, the North West-based manufacturer gave away a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne to 2 random donators.
