The motor and gearbox: The electric motor and gearbox in each operator has been carefully sourced to help produce an operator with low noise, very little vibration, long service life and can be fitted in any orientation. All SOMMER industrial motors are fitted with an encoder to determine the end positions so there’s no old fashioned mechanical limits to worry about. The controls: Three different versions of controlling these motors are available from the “deadman” option to the wonderfully versatile fully auto control box called the GIGAcontrol. Due to customer demand SOMMER have now also added the low level “deadman” control box which can easily be upgraded to the fully automatic GIGAcontrol to suit the customer requirements at a later date. GIGAcontrol T (On board Deadman version) This type of control is fitted on-board the motor and gearbox and needs a power connection at high level where the operator is fitted. With the encoder end-limit positioning it is however still possible to commission the end limits and even change the motor direction from ground level. This can save you time and money on site. The GIGAcontrol: This is a state of the art control box designed to operate any type of industrial door motor. (Roller shutter, sectional and high speed). It is also capable of connecting and operating on existing door motors with mechanical or electronic limits already in service. What this means is you can carry one SOMMER GIGA control box to suit all applications. That’s not all The GIGAcontrol has been designed with the installer in mind with an easy to follow commissioning process clearly communicated via an LED display screen. The control box will guide the installer through the whole commissioning process without the need to look up codes and parameters in a separate book. SOMMER also ensured ample room inside the control box for organising cables, connecting accessories and adding additional control equipment. Plug-and-play induction loop and traffic light modules are also available. Frequency converter version: More and more modern installations require a fast opening door with high usage capability. That’s where our 3 phase operator with frequency converter comes into its own. With our GIGAcontrol box you can easily adjust the soft start, soft stop and intermediate speed of the door making sure the door opens quickly every time and slows down gently to prevent un-necessary strain on the door system.
