It features a stainless steel anti-thrust and anti-saw one piece deadbolt and is drill, pick and force resistant. It also comes with a 25-year guarantee. Access control and door entry systems In addition to preventing locks from being picked, drilled or sawn, consider installing further solutions that help to prevent unauthorised entry. Code- based locks mean that the code can simply be given to authorised personnel – and there is no need to manage keys or risk them being lost or stolen. Also, as codes can be changed easily, security can be maintained by changing the code periodically or when any employee leaves the business. There are a number of products available on the market that offer these benefits. This includes the Standalone Access Control Kit with Electro Magnetic Lock. This can be easily installed and secures single aluminium or timber doors. The magnetic lock is fitted to the main entry point and is operated using a keypad, with a ‘press to exit’ switch installed inside to allow people to leave easily. Alternatively, the Borg BL2601 External Marine Grade Code Operated Latch is ideal for exterior use and has been salt spray tested up to 1000 hours and subjected to 100,000 operation cycles. The Codelocks CL500 Mechanical Lock can be fitted to internal doors to provide additional security to vulnerable areas within the building where sensitive or high value items are located. It features a slip clutch to prevent attempts to force the lock mechanism. For a digital alternative, the Codelocks CL5020 electronic lock can be easily programmed with no need to remove the lock from the door. It also features remote release and automatic fail-safe functions and the option for one-time user codes that automatically drop out once activated. Security hinges Exposed door hinges can leave a premises vulnerable to an attack as thieves may attempt to cut them or remove the hinge pin to pull the door out of its frame to gain access. Fitting security hinges can prevent this, as they feature security pins that interlock when the door is shut so that if the hinge barrel is cut or the pin is taken out, the two leaves of the hinge remain locked together preventing the door being removed. Alternatively, products like the ERA Hinge Bolts can be fitted. The ERA Hinge Bolts consist of a separate pin that is fitted on the hinge edge of the door and provide the same protection by locking into the frame. When specifying door hardware or advising your customers, there are a number of factors to consider to ensure building security.
