Rhino will manufacture nine stainless steel, double-leaf fire doors for installation in the cross passages of the Northern Line platforms. The project is part of the Northern Line Link which will connect Crossrail Liverpool Street Station and Moorgate Station with step-free access. The self-closing fire doors have been designed to provide refuge for those with reduced mobility during an emergency and feature panic bars and vision panels. A prototype of the double-leaf fire door will be tested for a minimum of 60 minutes to validate the design’s performance and assess the threat of fire from both sides of the doors, ensuring safety standards are rigorously adhered to. Commenting on the announcement, Stuart Lawrence, Managing Director of Rhino Doors, said: “We’re very pleased to be working directly with London Underground and Transport for London on this project at Moorgate Station. “At Rhino, we pride ourselves on designing and manufacturing bespoke doors to meet the complex needs of rail infrastructure and other transport providers, and this latest project is another example of our design and manufacturing excellence.” Due to the installation taking place in a congested area with complex geometry, the project requires precision engineering and 3D modelling by the Rhino Doors team. The installation will also be performed by Rhino within a live station environment. To find out more about Rhino Doors’ services and ongoing projects, please visit www.rhinodoors.com
