As stated in Section J.1.2 of EN 15269-10, the standard clearly states that fitting to a flexible from a rigid structure is ‘not possible without additional testing’. Manufacturers must hold the additional testing data to supply fire shutters to flexible structures, preventing the supply of non-compliant products to the GB marketplace. Simply disclose the structural type when quoting and SSS Industrial Doors Ltd will manufacture the fire shutter according to the parameters in the Extended Application Report. After a successful inspection by WarringtonFire Testing and Certification Ltd, SSS Industrial Doors Ltd have been presented with a UKCA certificate for confirmation and approval. This certificate states the ‘Flame Armour’ fire shutter product range can be both UKCA marked and CE marked. According to the auditor, SSS Industrial Doors Ltd were the first fire shutter manufacturer to apply for the UKCA marking scheme. Following Government guidance, CE marking will no longer be recognised in Great Britain as of January 2022. It is imperative all manufacturers conduct the necessary testing and auditing on their products to ensure compliance to the new UKCA marking. If a ‘Flame Armour’ fire shutter were to be installed in the Great British Marketplace (England, Wales and Scotland) after December 2021, or exported and installed within a European country (EU27 member state), it would be compliant as a result of the UKCA and CE marking certification. This is a major advantage of buying a fire shutter with an ‘approved’ and ‘notified’ body conducting annual audits and supplying compliant documentation.
