We sat down to learn a bit more about him. 1. Could you tell us about your background and experience before joining Trade Spares? I’ve worked in and around the garage door industry for almost 20 years – starting at a family-run business in 2003 and learning the trade as a fitter. As it was a small company, I got involved in many different areas. This included taking on a surveyor’s role in 2019 and managing two teams of fitters. You could say it was both my experience of being in the office and working out in the field that made me a good candidate for the Sales Manager role at SWR Trade Spares. 2. What do you see as the most important part of your role as Sales Manager? I’d say it’s connecting with our customers and understanding their expectations of us as a business. Much of my time is spent on the road and visiting existing accounts to find out what more we can do – whether that’s improving an area of our service, stocking new parts or where we can be more competitive on price. 3. What’s your opinion on the state of the industry right now and where it’s headed? COVID and other factors have obviously had an impact but I’m optimistic about the future. For instance, there’s a higher demand for remote-controlled automated operators due to recent technological advances. Also, increases in construction and home renovation mean our customers remain busy and in need of new parts. Ultimately, consumer demand for garage doors is healthy and that has a positive effect on selling spare parts to trade. 4. How have you been settling in at Trade Spares? Aluroll Delivers Roller Garage Paws Aluroll’s latest recruit, Hudson, is making customers smile as he helps deliver doors across the UK. With its own fleet of delivery vehicles, Aluroll has been able to allow driver Gwyn to have his puppy cocker spaniel Hudson join him on the road. Hudson has quickly become the highlight of many customers’ days, with some even hound-ing the office with special requests that the pooch delivers their doors. He now has his own paw-some Instagram account @AlurollHudson where you can hear tails of his adventures and watch him grow. Gwyn said: “I was apprehensive about getting a puppy at first as I thought he’d be on his own for long stretches of time while I was out on the road. I mentioned this in passing to Aluroll and they made my day when they said I could take him out with me. They even bought him a special seatbelt and a little work uniform!”.
