With the acquisition entering its 5th year, SWS UK reflects on the successful synergy between SWS, StellaGroup and its sister companies. BIG Numbers for this BIG Player StellaGroup now boasts a presence in five European countries, including Great Britain, France, Germany, The Netherlands and Italy. It is the proud name behind 12 brands across 17 production sites. With almost 3000 employees divided across its three groups—Window Closure, Access and Outdoor— it has achieved a turnover of 650 M€. SWS UK, part of the Access group, has contributed to the impressive manufacture of more than 100,000 roller shutters, garage doors and steel grilles. Collaborative Projects Working in close partnership with its sister companies has resulted in some exciting collaborative projects for SWS UK. To date, the most impressive involved a collaboration between SWS and Profalux, resulting in the extremely successful implementation of the Rollformer - the company’s biggest-ever investment in machinery. The Rollformer is a state-of-the-art machine that facilitates the on-site production of some of SWS UK’s own slats. Roll forming is a continuous process that converts sheet metal into the engineered shape of SWS UK’s SeceuroGlide Garage Door slats using consecutive sets of rolls. Specified by SWS UK themselves, it is the first coil-to-curtain machine for roller garage doors – in the world! A Powerhouse of Expertise The benefits of sitting under the StellaGroup umbrella are tenfold, but for SWS UK these include access to shared expertise, group buying power and of course, a connected association with one of the industry’s most established and thriving businesses. SWS UK’s Managing Director Colin Reoch said, “For almost 40 years, we’ve taken pride in our heritage as a UK manufacturer, but we’re undoubtedly a stronger company thanks to our position within StellaGroup. We’re reaping the rewards of their expertise and experience and look forward to working together on new projects and developments as we move forward together.” 40 THE door industry journal summer 2024 Industry News
