The benefits are measurable cost reductions, easier door adjustment and more sophisticated door programming. The Osprey sliding-folding door can be manufactured to suit openings up to 20 metres wide by 6 metres high, subject to a maximum 100 metres 2 opening and the Kingfisher door can be designed for opening up to 30 metres by 6 metres. The drive motor is pre-wired to the control panel, which in-turn simply plugs into the mains supply. Not only does this save on expensive wiring materials and time, but also forgoes the need to send a qualified electrician to make the final connections once the mechanical installation is complete. Door adjustment is now infinitely easier as open and close limit switches are set at ground level from the digital control panel and optical safety edges are now wireless, which reduces site wiring costs as the edges are simply plugged in and can be set-up by the installation team. The digital control panel combined with a variable speed drive allows the door to be programmed for fast opening and slower closing and even super slow – to further limit the danger of crushing as the door reaches its final close position. Jewers Doors Director, Mark Jewers, commented: “Over the past 12 months we’ve been working closely with Guthrie Douglas to develop its GFA drives into our sliding and folding doors. The cost benefits are measurable as we now send only a single team to install and commission the door, where previously there was always a mechanical team followed by a return visit by an electrician for wiring.” Phoenix range doors are simple to install and are available to the trade. LOCAL RUGBY CLUB AND LOCAL FIRM SCRUM DOWN TO KEEP OUT VANDALS A rugby club with over 200 years of history has joined forces with a local security company to keep vandals out of their new clubhouse. Milton Keynes RFC, which was originally established as Wolverton RFC in 1801 moved to its new purpose built premises in Emerson Valley in March last year after 36 years based at Greenleys. The club house, which is used by the wider community for social events, was recently attacked by vandals in attempt to enter the building. “We are proud to work alongside a club like Milton Keynes RFC.” said Simon Barnicoat from Stanair Industrial Door Services who are one of the UKs leading door installation and repair companies. “It is vital that they are able to operate and be a key part of the wider community knowing they have security from vandals and thieves. We’re pleased our services have helped them to do that.” Stanair have provided security grilles for the club which, according to reports, stopped vandals entering the premises even after they spent twenty minutes trying to get in. “While its disappointing that a small minority want to spoil things for our players,” said the President of Milton Keynes RFC John Silk, “we know that good security is an important part of any business and our investment with Stanair has proved it worth.” John joined the club as a prop forward in 1972, moving from North London, and after serving as Chairman for 16 years, became President in 2004. “We have over 140 young members on our books that come here every week to enjoy playing rugby.” John continued. “The socialising after the match and being around players and parents in a safe environment is an important part of the game. That is why we need the best security and that is why we work with Stanair.” Stanair Industrial Door Services offer a wide range of products including dock loading systems, sliding doors, roller shutter doors and security gates and doors. They also provide, maintain and repair industrial doors as well as a range of window and door grilles, bars and shutters, and promises its customers that it will secure or repair the industrial door on the first engineering visit, or they don’t pay a penny. Emergency calls to Stanair are normally responded to within two hours, often sooner, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
