This accreditation applies to LT, solid timber doors and both EPU and LPU insulated doors, when fitted with ProMatic or SupraMatic Series 3 BiSecur operators. The award of Secured by Design status recognises existing German TÜV Nord, independent testing, which means this additional feature and key selling point comes at no extra cost. One of the key elements in gaining the Secured by Design accreditation is the mechanical lock that both the ProMatic and SupraMatic operators feature. Unique to Hörmann, this automatic latching system makes it almost impossible to lever these doors open, and as it is a purely mechanical system, it remains fully functional even in the event of a power failure. For clarity Secured by Design status only applies to Hörmann Sectional doors in combination with Hörmann Series 3 operators. If an alternative operator is fitted or a Hörmann operator fitted with another manufacturers door, accreditation does not apply. The full range of styles and finishes of Hörmann EPU and LPU doors are covered by the accreditation except those with glazed panels which have not been individually tested. LTH solid timber doors with Secured by Design status include the individual design option in either Hemlock or Nordic Pine. For trade customers Hörmann has produced a promotional leaflet and copies of the original testing certificates which can be obtained from the marketing team or your Area Sales Manager. Digital Security With these door and operator combinations the Hörmann BiSecur two-way radio system adds digital as well as mechanical security. The system checks that the signal it receives is from an authorised transmitter before proceeding, utilising the same 128 bit encryption as online banking. This also adds the door enquiry feature available with the HS 5 handsets. This makes it possible to check if a door, or gate is open or closed even if it is out of sight. For the style conscious a colourful selection of the HSE 2 keyring sized BiSecur hand transmitters are also available matching the high quality, piano lacquer effect finish of the black and white transmitters. ThermoPro Also Secured by Design For matching garage and entrance door combinations Hörmann has also gained Secured by Design status for ThermoPro entrance doors. Already available to meet the stringent European WK2 security classification the ThermoPro range of contemporary and classic styles of entrance doors feature multi-point locking with a combination of conical swing and security lock bolts that pull the door tightly shut. Three further security bolts on the hinge side make it practically impossible to force the door open. One of the key elements of the Secure by Design option is a new, even more secure, individually coded lock cylinder that has been designed to resist picking, snapping, bumping or drilling. As well as being secure, these doors are also stylish and thermally efficient, exceeding the latest standards. Double seals on all four sides, with additional corner seals, provide extra protection against the elements and help to ensure that these doors are airtight, water tight and stable. The 46 mm door leaf is filled with rigid, CFC free, polyurethane foam leading to high levels of both thermal and acoustic insulation. A choice of triple and double glazed elements that maintain the high thermal efficiency levels are also offered along with a choice of glass to help create the desired look. As well as providing a straight forward route for house builders to meet Secured by Design requirements this accreditation is a recognised and reassuring brand for retail customers.
