Both Steve and Andrew have a wealth of experience in the roller shutter and garage door industry, spanning many years. Steve will assume the day to day running of JD (UK) Limited as MD, supported by Kevin, Pat, Andy and the rest of the team. This new chapter for JD will see emphasis placed upon growing the sales of the Alutech Sectional Garage door, as well as continuing to support their customers with both the Alutech and Deprat range of roller garage door components. The quality of JD’s customer service will be a particular focus for the team at JD, whose aim is to provide the best possible service to their customers. “Our goal is to provide a service to the industrial and garage door companies that want to make a higher margin. Many companies don’t realise that they are able to buy all the component parts in the UK, off the shelf, to make continental window shutters and roller garage doors. JD has a sophisticated program that will provide a cutting and packing list to support you” Says Steve Hudson Andrew commented that “our first task with JD was to increase the UK stock holding of roller door material so that we can cope with the increasing number of companies that are looking to save a substantial amount of money by manufacturing continental shutters and roller garage doors themselves. Currently we stock over 100,000 linear metres of lath and 2000 end plates in the UK. Our aim is to always have material on the shelf - if this is not enough we have 3 months of stock already manufactured and ready for delivery into the UK. With this investment and commitment we will not run out - no other supplier can claim the same level of commitment”. Deliveries are made nationwide on the fleet of JD long wheel base Lorries, which are especially equipped to take delicate material, providing fast deliveries and also ensuring materials arrive in pristine condition. Helen Schofield, office manager at Sommer’s UK office in York, dealt with the order which was posted to the yacht’s next port of call and that everyone thought was that. Then during Helen’s holiday in Malta, earlier this year, she took a walk around the harbour in Valetta, and there to her absolute amazement was the yacht. Luckily she remembered the engineer’s name and was invited on board to have a look round. The handsets are used by the crew to automatically bring down the gangplank for boarding - how cool is that!
