Door Industry Journal - Winter 2013

Also online at: www.dijonline.co.uk 30 THE door industry journal winter 2013 garage doors feature MULTICOLOUR OPTION FOR GARAGE DOORS FROM RYTERNA The economy is recovering, people are more confident about the future and as a result are ready to spend money to improve or renovate their homes. Most of us like to see the difference between ‘before and after’, so with garage doors typically occupying 30 - 50% of the façade, just replacing the garage door makes a significant impact on the curb appeal of any home. For modern and stylish customers ‘traffic white’ or ‘anthracite grey’ is not unusual enough, because a third of the houses on many streets now have similar garage doors. This situation has led to consumers, architects and designers to look for something different. To follow these new trends, Ryterna is offering its customers multi-colour options. The first option offered is painting the door panels using 2 or 3 colours. • First, the basic colour is applied to the entire garage door. It can be any choice from the standard Ryterna colour palette or any other custom colour including metallic finishes. • Desirable designer motifs or patterns can then be created by applying additional colours. • Simple ‘straight line’ motifs can be painted directly on door panel but complicated patterns and motifs are cut out of stainless steel, painted and then attached. • Stainless steel appliqués are used to provide an embossed relief effect to an otherwise flat panel. • Even painting window frames in a different colour can create a vibrant effect. • Car fanatics regularly choose ‘racing stripes’ as their preferred motif. So, if your customer has a sporty car with stripes over its body and they want to replicate the colours and stripes on their garage door - no problem. Colour combinations like black and red, white and blue, British racing green and orange are very popular. The second option is combining panels with different colours and designs within the same door. • Most sectional garage doors are made of four panels so making panel combinations 2+2 or 3+1 can create a stunning effect. • A combination of for example black, green or grey panels contrasted with woodgrain coloured panels (golden, light or old oak) creates the impression of a solid classic style. • Additionally, metallic finish and ‘stainless steel’ vision panels combined on one door can create a very modern style. Every customer can create their own combination of colours and panels.
