However, this level of security is rarely replicated at the entrance gates or barriers of the premises, especially when controlled with radio remote key fobs. The Prastel MRRE-4 is a product to give a simple solution to this problem. The MRRE-4 is a multiprotocol 4-channel 433 MHz radio receiver aimed at access control applications. The unit receives a radio signal and converts it to one of the available formats, thus allowing it to be added on to almost any access control system in the same way any door reader does. Its four outputs allow four separate devices to be controlled and it has inputs for loop detectors and options for anti-passback giving a much higher level of security. The quality Prastel remote controls can have standard EM or MIFAR tags built in which also reduces the need for a separate proximity tag on the key ring. The receivers are available from Easygates Distribution who can also laser mark the key fobs with your company details and/or serial numbers if required. ASO PRODUCTS ADDRESS LATEST HSE SAFETY GUIDANCE REQUIREMENTS Following a recent non-fatal incident involving a small child and an automated sliding gate, the HSE have released a guidance document (WG-2013.08) regarding the avoidance of dangerous shear gaps and drawing-in points of automated gates. The document details that the reason the incident occurred was due to a 144 mm wide gap in between the vertical support post frame and the vertical bars of the 6m long x 2m high (approx.) gate leaf. A safety edge was fitted to the support frame, however, due to its positioning and the presence of the 144mm gap the child was not detected and serious injury was inflicted due to a drawing-in risk. HSE advise that “Gate designers, maintainers and owners need to be able to recognise and avoid this risk of potentially serious or fatal injury from whole body access”. ASO’s GE F range of safety edges offers a simple and elegant solution to the problem of large gaps (above 100mm) in portal support frame areas by utilising a reversible aluminium mounting channel. This reversible aluminium mounting plate (see attached diagram) allows corner mounting of the support frame safety edge(s), thus reducing the size of the gap dramatically whilst also providing a greater safety detection area. The GE F series of safety edges range from 45mm through to 115mm profile depths allowing installers to choose the correct size to ensure that any risks can be easily addressed. In addition the 85mm profile can be manipulated to allow conventional mounting of the aluminium channel whilst still providing the in-filling effect providing a more aesthetically pleasing solution.
