This smart padlock offers a whole host of access control features in a device that can be used anywhere you would use a traditional padlock. The Bluetech QL padlock operates via Bluetooth or NFC, it is Android and iOS compatible and offers six unlocking methods. It can be opened or closed with a smartphone using the free downloadable app or by one of five RFiD devices (card, key fob, optional sticker, wristband or stainless steel ring). Pairing the lock via Bluetooth to a smartphone using the free iOS or Android app is very straightforward. You then open the app on your phone, press the button on the padlock and the open screen appears showing an unlock button. As an alternative, for faster opening, you can set the Auto unlock feature. The Bluetech QL padlock can be programmed to operate with up to 50 different NFC keys (two NFC cards and a key fob are included with the standard package). In fact, anything with an NFC chip (except a smartphone) can be paired, so if you have one already you don’t have to use the ones supplied. The built-in battery will last for about two years in normal use and when the lower of the two lights on the padlock button flashes red, a recharge is needed. Should the battery become totally flat, a portable charger connected to the port on the back of the lock (using the micro USB cable supplied) will supply enough power to open it before it’s charged in the normal way. And finally, if you need to keep track of who has accessed your padlock, the app offers a compelling feature which provides historical data showing who opened it and when, including precise dates and times. This feature makes the Bluetech QL padlock an ideal choice for controlling access simply, without resorting to installing an expensive security system. The standard kit includes the padlock, two RFiD cards, one RFiD key fob, a micro USB charging lead and quick start guide. Optional extras include RFiD stainless steel ring, wallet sticker and wristband. All of the features described above, plus the multiple choices of operation make the Bluetech QL the only wireless padlock on the market with both NFC and Bluetooth capabilities (according to our research at the time of writing).
