A better locking system and rolling system for Roller garage doors? – try it for free and then decide! Traditional Autolocks are by far the most popular locking system currently offered by many roller door manufacturers, however they have their limitations. French manufacturer Deprat has an alternative barrel and locking system, which improves security and minimises curtain damage when rolling! • High quality one piece pliable plastic construction with no hinge points gives a greater smooth open and close with no “click” noise compared to traditional autolocks. • Steel reinforcing to the locking strap, adds strength and increased durability making it very hard to break! • Simple push fitting system between ring and strap enable faster and easier installation. • Unique ring design gives concentric rolling to the curtain. This reduces natural marking to the inside of the curtain in normal operation. • Galvanised 89mm round tube in combination with the ring, helps the curtain roll tighter than traditional 70mm octagonal tube. • Less deflection or “sag” in the tube than 70mm octagonal tube. And is also better suited for doors over 5m wide. • Once installed, gives a greater impression to the end user of durability and security For a limited time JD (UK) – Deprat’s UK distributor is offering free Deprat locking system samples to demonstrate the superior properties of the Deprat system to dealers and for installers to show their prospective customers. Phil Kane from Merlin Roller Shutters in Rotherham who manufacture roller garage doors for the trade using Alutech components and Deprat barrel commented: “Over the last couple of years we have seen a marked shift in demand towards the Deprat system, with the additional strength provided by the locking system, the ability to make wider and higher door,s easily makes up for the small additional cost of the system”. Phil went on to say: “Most important is that when I am in competition with a manufacturer using the traditional 70mm octagonal system, I tend to win every time as once they have seen and handled the system it is easy to see why the Deprat system is better for the installer and end-user”. Whilst JD (UK) do not manufacture roller doors, they have a network of manufacturers like Merlin Roller Shutters, that supply complete roller door systems who offer both Deprat barrels and locks as well as traditional 70mm barrel and autolocks which offer their customer flexibility to win orders. The network of manufacturers covers the whole of the UK, from London and the South East, South West, West and East Midlands, Yorkshire and Lancashire. All provide CE certificates with doors utilising Alutech and Deprat components, as detailed in the InsuRoll brochure. The page from the brochure shown to the right shows the product benefits page with the Deprat locking system. Concluding, the industry expert that we consulted said: “Most manufacturers have a pretty good system of manufacturing; it’s usually more about keeping good records, once the system is set up. Put simply, it’s purely about keeping good records of the doors manufactured, and keeping manufacturing standards high. Some companies fall foul as they swap and change suppliers, if this happens beware as it will make the CE marking redundant”. So, to ensure you as a retailer/installer sell only compliant product, make sure your roller door manufacturer buys all their components from a ‘system supplier’ like Alutech or similar. JD (UK) is the UK distributor for both Alutech and Deprat components. We hold a comprehensive stock of all popular garage door lath and components necessary to manufacture roller garage doors.
