Also online at: www.dijonline.co.uk doorsets 87 THE door industry journal winter 2015 Adams Rite Secures Jack Aluminium Anti Panic Doorset Adams Rite, part of ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, has worked with Jack Aluminium Systems to produce a new thermally efficient anti panic single doorset, which meets the UK security standard PAS24. The TD68 anti panic doorset incorporates the innovative Sentinel M 3 point anti-panic lock with a 3 star security cylinder, offering three points of trusted locking, whilst still allowing for quick and easy egress due to its unique orbital latch design. The doorset has been successfully tested to PAS24, providing the benchmarks to show the doorset has the capability to withstand a number of attacks and is suitable for use in public buildings, such as educational establishments. Jeff Pearson, Sales Director at Jack Aluminium Systems Ltd, said: “Adams Rite provided us with a quality product and offered us useful advice throughout the development of the TD68 anti panic doorset. “Some opportunists have been known to gain unauthorised access to buildings from the outside by using string to operate panic bars. The TD68 anti panic door has a device at the top and the bottom of the doorset to prevent this. “In addition, the door provides end users with the peace of mind that when they shut the door it will automatically latch, while anyone trapped on the inside in the case of an emergency will be able to exit the building with ease. Following testing for security and water-tightness, durability testing is the final step in the critical testing process for security doors to meet the requirements of government initiative Secured by Design, and the most time consuming. The test itself simulates over 20 years of a residential front door’s life, with the door typically opened and closed 50,000 times over a two week period, tying up test equipment. The new rigs more than double existing capacity and significantly reduce test programme lead times. Ian Keeling, Business Unit Head of Exova in Willenhall said: “This investment allows us to work to shorter timescales in completing the suite of operational, security and weather tests through increasing workflow capacity.” As a result of the investment, the Willenhall facility now offers four durability rigs for single doorsets, three for double doorsets, three for windows, plus one additional rig for large scale samples over four metres wide including bi-folding and sliding patio doorsets. www.exova.com
