Also online at: www.dijonline.co.uk 82 THE door industry journal winter 2016 powered gates Innovative Safety Edge Offers Better Integration into Today’s Challenging Gate Designs Bircher Reglomat introduces the new 67mm safety edge profile CoverLine EPE040/067A0J Bircher Reglomat has expanded its CoverLine safety edge series in the form of the new EPE040/067A0J profile. The new edge profile has a height of 67mm, adding a useful intermediate size to the tried-and-tested safety edge range. This highly responsive profile design, just like the 40/81 and 40/105 models, means less force is needed to trigger a switch and therefore to stop the closing and opening movement of a door or gate. Just 60N of force and 5mm actuating travel (standard testing at C3 with 1 m/s at 20˚C) is enough to activate the safety edge. This is achieved with Bircher’s patented chamber height reduction profile design feature, which reduces the switching chamber height by several millimetres once mounted to IN2 Access and Control’s standard and angled aluminium rails. “This new addition to Bircher’s CoverLine safety edge range gives customers a greater choice of profiles to ensure better integration and operational effectiveness into today’s challenging door and gate designs” said Derek Foreman, Director at IN2 Access. “We are also pleased to announce that both our straight and angled CoverLine profile mounting rails can now be ordered as individual parts, enabling retrofitting of an existing installation if required” he added. The new profile completes the CoverLine product line. This means that Bircher Reglomat now offers the profile heights 55, 67, 80, 81 and 105 mm, which can be mounted either straight or at a 20 degree angle, giving the customer as much flexibility as possible.
