As part of improvements for 2018, NRG Automation are expanding their range of add-ons designed to give you more control over selling their products, making it easier and more profitable for you. They will also give your customers more choice, either at point of purchase, while installing the product, or if you want to make additional sales as a retro fit. ASK: Most roller door installers will be familiar with the ASK hand transmitters and wall stations, which allow your customer to determine if their door is open or closed, from the comfort of their house via a bi-directional transmitter. This software will now be available on The Black Edition garage door operator from 2018. Stuart Fleming at City Garage Doors was very impressed with the prototype panel that NRG Automation sent him earlier in the year: “I had one old chap who phoned me constantly saying his garage door kept opening. It was made worse, by the fact his door was not in view of his house. Matthew at NRG Automation supplied us with a new Black Edition operator, and I took off his old motor. He now sits in his house and presses the ASK button. If the LED flashes Blue, he knows that his door is closed, and he doesn’t have to phone me anymore! I will be using it more next year, as it’s a really easy up-sell.” ASK: One question sales staff and installers get asked a lot, is “How secure will my new door be?” Well, more secure is now the answer, when combined with The Black Edition. For your piece of mind, the Black Edition garage door operator has two systems for ‘burglar’ protection, one electrical and the other mechanical. 1. Mechanical protection: Each 1-piece boom has pre-drilled holes at the front of the boom. In the unlikely event of a power failure when the door is open, the door can be locked in the closed position a by a self ‘locating’ spring loaded spigot. The spigot protrudes from the topside of the carrier and locates into one of the pre-drilled holes. This physically locks the boom in place. When electrical operation is restored, the belt ‘shuttle’ re- locates into the carrier releasing the ‘spigot’ mechanism. 2. Electrical security: The software is programmed to drive the door down in the event of any physical ‘opening force’ being applied during an attempt to gain access to the garage. The motor controller recognises unauthorised upward movement from as little as 30mm of travel before it drives the door down to the closed limit position. ASK: And do not forget to ask us for our test certificate. As a leading supplier of automation, we are continually being asked about CPR and the Machinery Directive. We are more than happy to send you a copy of our certification; and to assist installers, it will be presented in the back of The Black Edition installation instructions from 2018.
