To cope with demand Birkdale have installed machinery supported with software that reads every roller door’s unique reference number and cuts, assembles and packages the doors - all backed with a series of built in checks that ensure the door is made exactly to your order. This machinery is now fully operational and allows Birkdale to manufacture a door in 90 seconds - so their industry beating lead times will remain no matter how many orders you throw at them. Scott Dunderdale, Sales Director at Birkdale, highlights some of the specifics and discusses the finer details below: “But that’s only part of our investment, we now produce slats in 56mm high density making a hybrid roller door to replace our current mini and midi doors, these will fit into a 205mm box for most in-between and under lintel installations where headroom is limited, but on slightly higher doors will fit into a 250mm box and because the slats are bigger and thicker than most “compact” designs on the market the doors retain a greater level of strength. “Along with the new 56mm slat we also produce 78mm slats, we are reducing our standard paint finish to just one Group 1 colour- white, that sounds like bad news but here’s the difference, we have reduced the price by 50% on our 6 biggest selling colours and while still maintaining our huge range of standard laminated finishes we have a new laminating machine offering thousands of solid woodgrain and wood effect colours. We have banded the colour range into 5 Groups: Group 1: White paint finish. Group 2: Standard laminated finishes reduced by 50% to compete against inferior standard paint finishes a vailable elsewhere.
