Door Industry Journal - Winter 2019

THE door industry journal winter 2019 Also online at: www.dijonline.co.uk OPEN DOORS One Stop shop here we come….. The plan for dhf is to become the One Stop shop for the industries that we represent. This is particularly the case for our members who are involved in installing Industrial/ Garage Doors and Automated Gates. So what does that mean? We have had for many years technical staff who are here to answer questions about standards, legislation and safety related issues. We also launched our first training course (Automated Gates) in 2013 and we now have a suite of 5 training courses covering gates and doors, as well as Fire Door courses run in conjunction with BRE. There are now over 3200 dhf Diploma/Certificate holders. We are very proud of this achievement. And we are now pleased to announce the next stage in achieving the One Stop shop… …the launch of the dhf CSCS Card scheme. The process of obtaining a CSCS card is simple using the bespoke area of the dhf website. And of course, dhf staff are always available to help with the application process if required. Going forward CSCS cards will grow in importance and will increasingly be required to gain access to work on sites. dhf totally supports this process which will help ensure that the person doing the work has been properly trained. This is all part of the dhf Raising Standards campaign. Known as SeceuroSchool, each half or full day event is held at their purpose-built training facility and focuses on a product from their diverse choice of security and garage door products. These include SeceuroGlide (garage doors), SeceuroFire (fire protection products) and SeceuroDoor (industrial doors). Most recently, the company held six SeceuroSchools over a period of four days focusing on their SeceuroFire Shutter, which, due to changes in legislation has been redeveloped to include amongst other things, additional integrity ratings and an increased scope of sizes. Attended by fitters, sales reps and business owners, the specialist events cover topics such as legislation, product specification, surveying, installation and diagnosing faults and fixes. All delegates are given the opportunity to get hands on with the product and partake in a variety of practical activities, all designed to ensure distributors are confident in the correct surveying and installation methods set out by the company. Presented by technical expert John Duffy who has over 20 years’ experience with SWS UK, the seminars are frequently praised by distributors for being informative, interesting and enjoyable. Each SeceuroSchool is free to attend and upon completion, each company receives a £100 voucher which can be used against their next purchase of that product. Talking about the SeceuroSchool events, SWS UK’s Managing Director Kevin Lindeque told us: ‘With such a comprehensive range of products, we appreciate the importance of product training. Our SeceuroSchools were introduced to offer our distributors their own tailor- made product training for our bespoke products and we are fortunate enough to benefit from excellent facilities, which enable us to run these events on a regular basis.’ For further information or to find out when SWS UK’s future SeceuroSchools are being held, email their Marketing department marketing@swsuk.co.uk
