THE door industry journal winter 2019 35 Somfy UK Hold Coffee Morning in Aid of Macmillan The Somfy UK team at their Yeadon (Leeds) office held a coffee morning in September in aid of Macmillan. The event was organised by Sidra Mahmood who made a fabulous job of getting everything in order and making the offices welcoming to the Somfy team and those who joined from elsewhere in the building. Commenting on the event, Managing Director, Steven Montgomery said: “Macmillan is a great cause for us to support and I’m really proud of the team for getting behind the event but especially Sidra for organising. It’s not only a great chance for us to support a worthy cause but brings us together as a team. There were some great cakes made by the team, Alaina Gibson made some Slimming World Friendly Brownies and Andrew Dine’s mum delivered again with some great looking Unicorn cakes!” Everyone involved agreed that it was really was great to spend a few minutes doing something to give to charity whilst sharing some time as a team. A total of £90.03 was raised at the event for Macmillan. These events, held in September each year, are the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and are also Macmillan Cancer Support’s biggest fundraising event. Each year, people in the UK and worldwide host their own Coffee Morning. The donations received go towards Macmillan services. In 2018 the events raised £26,914,382 and this year (at the time of writing) the total raised for the 2019 events alone had reached £17,653,766.
