SWS UK are Leading the Way with their Newly Developed SeceuroFire Flame Shutter Following a recent change in legislation which states that all fire shutters must be CE marked, SeceuroFire manufacturer SWS UK took the opportunity to redevelop their Flame Shutter with enhanced features, additional integrity ratings and improved installation benefits before submitting the shutter for testing at Warrington Fire. The SeceuroFire Flame Shutter is an electrically operated vertical fire shutter which is designed to be a security barrier during normal use and to be closed automatically during a test or an emergency situation. During its recent testing the flame shutter was fitted to a furnace which replicates the most severe conditions with temperatures reaching 1000°C, at a rate defined by the product standards. Pleasingly the Flame Shutter achieved BS EN 16034: shutters product standard and BS EN 13241: shutters product standard, performance characteristics and meets all new legislation requirements. In addition to the shutter’s original one, two- and four-hour integrity rating, the SeceuroFire Flame Shutter now boasts a fourth rating of 30 minutes. Other developments which are certain to prove popular with SWS UK’s distributors are greater access to end plate fixtures, increased range of hood configurations and a non-welded assembly design. With no more motor handling and new fixing kits now available, the shutter is now even easier to configure and benefits from simplified installation. A 30, 60, 120 and 240-minute fire shutter range plus a 120-minute fire curtain means SWS UK has the widest choice of solutions from one manufacturer. Additionally, the modular design, choice of controls, finishes and optional extras combine to make a fire shutter which meets both safety necessities and design preferences. Managing Director Kevin Lindeque commented: “When the new legislation was announced earlier this year, we chose not to see it as a challenge but rather an opportunity to further improve our flame shutter. We listened to our distributors and redeveloped the product to be better than ever. We feel that we now have a shutter which as well as being installer-friendly is flexible enough to be adapted to almost any requirement”. SWS UK’s new Flame Shutter is available immediately.
