Door Industry Journal - Winter 2020

Spot the Difference! Our Creative Director shines some light on how to supply your artwork, text and images for inclusion in DIJ magazine. Things have come a long way over the years when it comes to supplying artwork for magazines and if I was to say ‘gone are the days of cow gum and artboard’, you might have an idea as to how long ago my journey in the graphic design and artwork industry started. But it also highlights my years of experience. At the Door Industry Journal, we pride ourselves on being top of our game and whilst some may feel our request for the best is frustrating at times, our end result is to make your business look the best that it can. Supplying pictures Please provide your pictures in as high quality as possible NOT FROM A WEBSITE! Without getting too complicated, print works in 300dpi, web images tend to be around 72dpi. YOU CANNOT MAKE A 300dpi IMAGE FROM WEB 72dpi . Supplying text for editorial The best way to supply text is in Word format. This enables us to flow in your text without the risk of things being mistyped, but more importantly, if we are able to add your articles to our Blog or Newsletter, we can do that too. PDF format should only be used when supplying advert artwork. I am often asked ‘How should I supply my advert artwork?’ Over the years we have strived to produce literature that helps to make your lives as easy as possible, by creating technical specification sheets which explain how to create an advert from start to finish. These can be downloaded at bit.ly/DIJ-templates password DIJ-templates and kept for future reference. You can download a full Media Pack or individual Advert Templates, but these are only useful if you actually take the time to read them! Of course we are always here to answer any questions you may have, but as you can imagine, producing such an amazing magazine takes time, so if you could take a moment to download the required files first, you may find it answers those questions you may have and save you a call.
