Like many businesses, Kingfisher has implemented new social distancing measures to keep customers and staff safe. Due to space constraints inside the shop, they had to limit the number of people entering at any given time. They also wanted to keep the number of people waiting outside to a minimum. Craig wanted a way to remotely manage the flow of people in and out of the popular chippy. Solution: Derek Foreman, Sales Director at Oswestry-based IN2 Access spoke to Craig and they settled on a solution that combined a low profile red/green LED traffic light with a wireless manual control switch. The traffic light would be outward facing from the shop window, while the wireless switch allowed Craig to manually control the light turning green (allowing the next customer to enter) and red (asking the next customer to wait outside until all clear). A 24 volt AC adapter with five metre long cable threads above the drop ceiling, providing power to both the wireless receiver and the traffic light itself. While wired manual controls are more common, Craig wanted a wireless remote that could be moved or stored out of the way. The low voltage traffic light features a slim profile with ultra-bright LED bulbs in 100 mm arrays. “We wanted to make the whole solution simple to implement,” Derek said. “Craig also wanted the set up to look clean and out of the way - I think we got that right. The pre-wiring is done and all they have to worry about is mounting the light and threading the cable and wireless receiver above the drop ceiling. The addition of the wireless control switch finishes it off nicely – it’s a new item that we just added to our portfolio of products.” Owner Craig Maw was happy with the outcome, saying: “We appreciate IN2 Access working with us on this project. It was a cost-effective solution and we’re glad to be serving our customers some of the best fish and chips in the country in a safe way!” For additional information regarding this case or for bespoke solutions to a unique problem, contact IN2 Access & Control via email sales@in2access.co.uk, telephone 01691 655150, or visit www.in2access.co.uk .
